Lurrie Bell Doing Muddy Waters “Why Don’t You Live…” Chicago Blues Fest 6/10/12

Second generation bluesman Lurrie Bell is the son of noted harp man Carey Bell and both are Chicago legends. Lurries career began in the mid 70’s when he formed Sons of The Blues along with Freddie Dixon and Billy Branch. He also spent a good deal of time touring with Koko Taylor. He lost a decade or more to personal demons until be returned to music with a series of solo lps on the Delmark label. Since the beginning of the new century Lurrie has taken up a more acoustic sound including an award winning lp he recorded with his father. His new release is more acoustic music with a gosple edge to it. Here we present a few numbers he performed Sunday afternoon on the Front Porch stage at Chicago Blues Fest.
